White-Night-Detail-430The environmental impacts of siting a landfill at this site on fractured limestone are now well documented and accepted by the MOE and Waste Management. This is largely thanks to our team of scientific experts and the Environmental Review Tribunal initiated by the Concerned Citizens. In order to pay for the expert consultation the Concerned Citizens have been running a raffle. Harlan House, one of Canada’s most distinguished ceramic artists, has donated five fabulous pieces for this raffle. The early response has been a terrific indicator of support in our community. Over $20,000. has been raised.

The Concerned Citizens are pleased to announce the winner of the Early Bird Prize in the Harlan House ” Put Art in Your Life” raffle. The lucky winner is Justin Whalen; he receives a beautiful wall bowl created by Harlan, titled “White Night”. Congratulations Justin!

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Harlan and Maureen House for their generosity in donating these exquisite pieces of art for this raffle. Their support of this cause is edging us closer to winning this fight.

If you would like to purchase additional tickets for the main draw, to be held on January 7 2015, or know someone who would be thrilled to have a chance to win a piece of Harlan’s art, check elsewhere on this site for how to purchase tickets. Christmas is just around the corner!
