Environmental Review Tribunal issues an interim order to improve the monitoring of the Richmond Landfill
July 24 | Posted by Jeff | The Leaky Land BlogThe Environmental Review Tribunal has issued an interim order to improve the monitoring of the now closed Richmond Landfill. Evidence at the Tribunal confirmed that the old landfill is leaking and contaminating the groundwater beyond the boundaries of the property owned by Waste Management. This order requires more rigorous monitoring and reporting than had been required in the monitoring plan proposed by Waste Management and approved earlier by the MOECC.
